March 2008 / Frédérique Santune, “A.U.T.O.M.N.E.”

still from Nomi Talisman, excerpt from “The Last Thing Before the Last”

Frédérique's video takes place during a train journey at the end of the summer. Outside, the country is still green, but the city is already getting chilly. Reminiscent of Brion Gysin's Dream Machine and working with the constraint of using a recurrent shape, the artist proposes one amongst many possible interpretations of an inner journey ("voyage immobile"). The soundtrack is by 33dB.

Frédérique's work includes video, photography and typography, and is primarily focused on random interactive stories; it deals with dreams, contingency, the act of speech, and gesture. She also collaborates with other artists on videos and installations. Her work has been screened in several festivals in Europe, U.S.A., China and Senegal.

Frédérique, born in France, lives and works in Cardiff and Paris. Her website is found at http://www.saturne-feerique.net.
