Aubrey Reeves,
“Two Knots, One Not”
“After spending a summer crewing a whale watching schooner
in the Bay of Fundy, I became fascinated by the paradoxical simple
beauty and complexity of knots. This video shows three slightly
different knots being tied, each with very different outcomes.”—Aubrey
Reeves.
Aubrey
Reeves is originally from New Brunswick, but studied visual
art at University of Toronto and received an MA in Curatorial
Studies at Bard College in New York. She is Programming Director
at Trinity Square Video, an artist-run media arts centre in Toronto.
She works in video, photography, and drawing, and also performs
with the collective Bantam AAA Art Team.

Micheline
Durocher, “Syncope”
“Syncope” explores the way one can speak through the
body when symbolic language fails. The body of the aphasic female
reader becomes a way of coming into contact with what is beyond
the self, what the self fails to grasp.
Micheline
Durocher is a visual artist living in Montreal, Canada. A
mainstay of her art has been the exploitation of photo-based media
and, more recently, video. Her photographic work has been shown
nationally in individual and group exhibitions at Vu (Quebec),
Gallery 44 (Toronto), WARC (Toronto), Expression (Saint-Hyacinthe),
Ace Art (Winnipeg), and AKA (Saskatoon). She earned an MFA degree
from Concordia University. She currently teaches in the Fine Arts
department of Bishop’s University.
